Melon

Melon is a word you'd think only has one meaning. but I heard the word this morning on "I Love Lucy" and decided to look it up and to my surprise there were several meanings to the word.

Melon: The most common use of the word melon refers to the fruit that many of us eat (some on a daily basis). My personal favorite is cantaloupe. There are many melons including honeydew, watermelon, casaba, musk melon and several other.


Melon: Is a color defined as medium crimson or deep pink.


Melon: The visible upper portion of the head of a whale or dolphin, includes the eyes, beak and blowhole.


Melon: A large extra dividend, usually in the form of a stock, distributed amongst stockholders. Any windfall of money to be distributed amongst it's participants.

Wound

Wound is one of those words with two different pronunciations as well as different meanings.



Wound: (The first meaning described here is pronounced as woond): an injury, usually involving division of tissue or rupture of the integument or mucous membrane, due to external violence or some mechanical agency rather than disease.

Wound: (This meaning is pronounced as wownd): Past tense or past participle of wind. Something which has been turned or twisted. As in she wound the clock or he wound the wire on the coil. They wound their way around the winding road.

Dodge

Dodge: to move aside or change position suddenly, as to avoid a blow or get behind something.

 In the film The Matrix, Keanu Reeves dodges a bullet.


Dodge:  an ingenious expedient or contrivance; shifty trick.
 This skateboarder gives us an example of a shifty trick.


Dodge:  In photography to lighten or darken (selected areas on a print) by manipulating the light from an enlarger.




Dodge: is a U.S. made automobile manufactured by the Chrysler group. Includes models such as Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Dart, Coronet, Neon, Ramcharger, Sierra and several others.
                     The Dodge Challenger is a model that was popular throughout the 1970's.

Terminal

TERMINAL


Terminal: situated at or forming the end or extremity of something



Terminal: Leading ultimately to death



 Terminal:  a combination of a keyboard and output device (as a video display unit) by which data can be entered into or output from a computer or electronic communications system: a cash register is often referred to as a terminal. 



 Terminal: a station on the line of a public carrier, as in a city center or at an airport, where passengers embark or disembark and where freight is received or discharged. Bus station, train station.
